The Snow Season
The official snow season starts in early June to the start of October. However, like all snow seasons this rather depends on the weather and the snow conditions. It is highly advisable to check the local weather conditions before traveling on your skiing holiday.
Ski Resorts
The NSW Ski Resorts cater for all and offer something for everybody. The largest resort is the quaintly named Perisher with large lifts and excellent facilities. Threadbo is the most beautiful resort and has the longest run. If you are thinking of going to Charlotte Pass bear in mind this is only possible using snow transport, and is Australia’s highest resort. Finally the Selwyn Snow Resort is a great place for families, and perfect for learners.
Threadbo
Threadbo is a resort all year round due to its picturesque location and each season brings its own unique features.
During the winter season, Threadbo and the mountain is alive with excited skiers, snowboarders, and all manner of snow lovers. There is a host of activities based in the resort including a 9 hole golf course, bobsled, tennis, heated pool, leisure centre, mountain biking, fly and fishing.
Accommodation is varied and there are chalets, apartments, hotels and lodges to suit all purses.
Perisher
Located in the Kosciuszo National Park and is well covered with snow during the season. Perisher has cafes, bars, a supermarket snowsports schools, and many of the facilities are only open during the winter. In total Perisher has a total of 47 lifts servicing downhill runs and cross country trails.
Charlotte Pass
Completely snow covered on the roof of Australia, Charlotte Pass is a pristine alpine resort. It has spectacular vistas of Mount Kosciuszko and offers probably the best skiing in Australia.
The resort is only accessible by over-snow vehicles during the winter. From the gentle slopes of Easy Does It to the hard challenges of Guthries Chutes there is something for every type of skier.
Selwyn Snow Resort
Selwyn Snow Resort is perfect for beginners, as is known as a learn-to-ski resort. Its motto is Friendly Family Fun and is perfect for first timers as it provides progressive terrain as you improve.
The resort is also well known for being affordable , with relatively cheap skiing and value for money accommodation.
