The Perth riverfront was illuminated with 12 huge inflatable glowing Zodiac lanterns, a six–metre height Golden Rooster to signify the year of the Rooster. One of the most interesting displays was a wall of vibrant interactive lanterns that changed formation and colour at one’s touch.

The day was filled with traditional dancing, folk music, martial arts–tai chi, and a variety of cooking demonstrations to indulge different taste buds located at the Asian street food market. A Photographic Exhibition “Kiss the Sun, Marry the Moon” was also available and as it showcased various collections of vintage black and white portraits from the prominent Chinese immigrants, as well as contemporary portraits of the local community. Perth’s Northbridge, Forrest Chase and Elizabeth Quay were all lit up with a range of activities and events in celebration of the 2017 Chinese New Year Festival.
