Group Camping Tours Gold Coast
The Scenic Rim is a World Heritage listed area of subtropical rainforest an hour’s drive south, and inland, from Brisbane. It forms part of the Gold Coast hinterland and offers up a veritable treasure-trove of camping adventures.
And, as you’d expect of something with the word ‘scenic’ in its name, this area is truly majestic. Sweeping views from ancient mountain ranges, waterfalls and other prehistoric landforms all combine to make this a region you really must include on any group camping tours of the Gold Coast.
We’ve also included several other interesting camping destinations because the Gold Coast is, after all, associated with sun, sand, and the sea. Read more about them in our blog.
Why not get coachhire’s bus hire services on the Gold Coast to be your major travel partner. We offer a range of self-drive or driver supplied mini-bus and coach packages that are ideal for group camping tours.
Group Camping Tours Gold Coast – Lake Moogerah Caravan Park, Scenic Rim
Lake Moogerah is located reasonably close to Boonah and Aratula within the Scenic Rim region inland from the Gold Coast. The Lake Moogerah Caravan Park is privately owned and is situated right on the shores of the lake. There are both caravan and camping sites available and you can choose between powered and unpowered.
This place is popular though so if plenty of company on a camping trip is something you enjoy, Lake Moogerah is for you. It’ll also suit if you’re into water sports like fishing, water skiing, paddle boarding, kayaking, and boating. You can BYO water equipment or hire locally.
Group Camping Tours Gold Coast – Mount Barney Lodge, Scenic Rim
Mount Barney is Queensland’s second highest mountain peak. At its base nestles the Mount Barney Lodge camping ground. Both are located within the Mount Barney National Park.
Camping tours around Mount Barney National Park generally are not for the faint hearted! You need to hike in to most if not all of the camping sites throughout the Park. Most are unpowered and allow you to get right back to nature. It’s real camping, not glamping! But it’s well worth it to see the ancient rain forests, take in some of the spectacular views, and learn about unique flora and fauna.
Mount Barney Lodge itself offers basic accommodation for those who want a little more comfort but there are also unpowered camping sites available. The sites along the creek are very popular so you’ll need to get in early if you want one of them.
Group Camping Tours Gold Coast – Bigriggen Park, Scenic Rim
Bigriggen Park is another very popular camping tour destination in the Scenic Rim region that’s well worth visiting. It’s also a lot more ‘civilised’ than Mount Barney in terms of camping facilities and places to pitch your tent. You can bring a caravan, camper van or your tent and there are both powered and unpowered sites. Pooch is also welcome to come along.
Bigriggen Park covers 55 hectares of varying landscape an hour and a half drive inland from the Gold Coast. There are rolling hilltops, open grassed areas, huge gumtrees, plenty of native wildlife (watch out for possums), and Maroon Dam for a spot of water activities.
Camp Sites Gold Coast
The Fingal Holiday Park at Fingal Head is a great spot for those just learning about the delights of camping tours. Or who love listening to the soothing sound of waves crashing against the shore whilst trying to get some shuteye!
The park is well established and provides essential amenities whilst still catering to your inner primitive urge to sleep close to nature with just a piece of canvas overhead. There are several isolated beaches to find, and explore in the area.
Group Camping Tours Gold Coast – Hacienda Holiday Park, Tweed River
Just over the border in NSW is the Hacienda Holiday Park at Tweed River. This spot is ideal for anyone new to camping, or who prefers to have a choice between glamping or down and dirty camping. You can stay in one of the villas along the waterfront, hire a self-contained cabin, opt for a powered van site along the river, or pitch the tent on one of their unpowered tent sites.
The park has plenty of facilities including a convenience store, hot showers and somewhere to charge your iPhone! You can enjoy a spot of fishing and a range of other water sports.
Even though you have to walk in to some of these remoter camping grounds throughout the various national parks that form the Gold Coast hinterland, you still need to get to the nearest car park somehow. And for group camping tours from the Gold Coast the most convenient way to do that is by hiring a minivan or coach for the occasion.
CoachHire stands ready to assist you with this. Our range of coaches and minivans are ideal for group camping tours, no matter where you’re headed. When you’re ready to book your coach charter on the Gold Coast, then contact us for assistance with your transportation requirements.
