Group Camping Tours Sydney – Lane Cove River Tourist Park

For camping enthusiasts who love spending a night or two out under the stars but don’t want to spend hours travelling to do it, Lane Cove Tourist Park could be just what you’re looking for. This tranquil spot set in lush national park is only half an hour from Sydney in the Lane Cove National Park.

There is however a touch of glamping about this place. The park comes equipped with cabins (but you can also pitch a tent or bring a caravan), a recreation room, swimming pool, camp kitchen, and BBQs. The surrounding national park offers plenty of walks and hikes for nature enthusiasts.

Group Camping Tours Sydney – Coledale Beach Camping

Coledale Beach Camping at Coledale is a mere hour and three quarters drive from Sydney and is one of the most popular destinations for group camping tours out of Sydney. Camping here is understandably cheaper during the off-season but in summer this place gets pretty busy. And it’s no wonder!

Coledale Beach is located on the Pacific Ocean and nestled under the Illawarra scarp. This makes it feel pretty remote but it’s only a short hop from the town of Coledale. There’s also plenty to do on a camping stay here – swim, surf, fish, and watch out for migrating Hump Back and Southern White whales.

Group Camping Tours Sydney – Cathedral Reserve, Mount Wilson

For those interested in heading to the Blue Mountains for a group camping tour, Cathedral Reserve is a picturesque camping ground in Mount Wilson just under 2 hours drive from Sydney. Mount Wilson is a pretty English heritage style hamlet and in autumn it comes alive with the glowing colours of autumn foliage as the beeches, linden and elm trees lose their leaves.

Things to do whilst at Mount Wilson include visiting the Cathedral of Ferns and the Turkish Bath museum. You can also keep the kids busy picking chestnuts and walnuts.

There are a few canyons nearby as well for those who enjoy their canyoning. However the camping facilities at Cathedral Reserve do not stretch to showers so unless you’ve BYO, it might be wise to leave this activity until your last day here.

Group Camping Tours Sydney – Katoomba Falls Tourist Park, Katoomba

Another great place to camp if you’re doing a group camping tour around the Blue Mountains is the Katoomba Falls Tourist Park. The park is located in Katoomba on the Scenic Cliff Drive.

A short 10-minute walk from the park is Echo Point with its stunning valley views and the famous Three Sisters. This hike is also a must for the avid sunset photographer because they are pearlers!

Visit the local eateries in Katoomba, take in a round of golf, or stroll around the Everglades Gardens. Camping facilities include cabins, an amenities block, camp kitchen, and BBQ facilities.

Group Camping Tours Sydney – Wollondilly River Station, Bowral

From the mighty Blue Mountains to Wollondilly River Station just out of Bowral in the Southern Highlands of NSW, this is a group camping tour no less spectacular. It is however true camping with not so much of the glamping about it!

The camping ground is located on private property on the banks of the Wollondilly River. And it’s the real deal camping wise. You won’t have the luxury of powered sites here, nor is there a camp kitchen or laundry. There are however flush portaloos and you can enjoy a hot shower using water fresh from the river. Everything else is up to you to bring with you or purchase from the local office.

However, it’s well worth the visit. Wildlife abounds here in the wide-open spaces and the Wombeyan Caves makes a great day trip. The camping ground also caters for pets. Wollondilly River Station is just under 3 hours from Sydney.

Camping is one of life’s real pleasures, especially group camping tours. Sydney and the surrounding areas have plenty of amazing places where you can pitch a tent, rent a cabin, or take your own caravan. From the bare bones real deal to glamping in style, it’s all on offer here.
