The Yarra Valley is home to some of the best wineries in the region and the Shedfest Festival makes it a great time visit. Shedfest is an annual event which is usually held on the second weekend in October. It is now in it’s 16th year and it was established to showcase the many family owned vineyards and wineries in the Yarra Valley Region.
These wineries that are tucked away in rarely explored areas of the Yarra Valley may lack in size but they make up by boasting in quality and personality.

The Festival
Over the past 16 years, the Shedfest Festival has seem massive growth and success in the yearly held event, which led its expansion to the Yarra Valley region. It was previously held in the Warburton Hwy Wineries, the event now sees smaller wineries who participate along the Maroondah Hwy to Healesville and the Melba Hwy to Yarra Glen and afar. This provides a larger festival experience.
To get to the festival is only one hour from Melbourne and once you are in the Yarra Valley there are plenty of wineries to visit here. So make your way to the Shedfest Festival whilst you are in the region.
All wineries have shed, housing crushers, barrels, tractors and other equipment which is vital to the production of fine wines.
At the festival these wineries open their sheds to house the two days over the weekend of delicious food, fine wine and local produce.
What’s On
Apart from the fantastic food, wine and the local produce, you can also expect to find live music and entertainment. If you are looking for somewhere where you can take it easy, enjoy good food, experience the charm of the local vineyards, take in the breathtaking views, chat to the winemakers and the owners, listen to some great music, participate in the croquet lessons, lawn games and much more, then the Shedfest Wine Festival is where you need to be.
The entry to the festival is only $20.00 and you will receive a souvenir glass which you can use to taste all the wines on offer at all of the participating wineries over the weekend.
Some of the proceeds from the glass will go to the local community group, CFA or SES and from 2009 they have raised over $35,000 for these causes.
Note, that there will be plenty of food on offer throughout the weekend and it will all be moderately priced so you only need to decide where, when and what you want to eat!
